How-to: The Origami Cube

The cube is probably the best known modular origami. It consists of six modules that interlock together to form a many-colored hexahedron. There are many variations of the cube, but I like this one best. Use six sheets of square paper, not to small, as smaller sheets are extremely hard to work with for this design. I like using six by six inch squares, you decide what size you want. This is not the simplest origami, but it also isn't that complex. When putting the six modules together, don't get frustrated. It can be a bit tricky. Several modules similar to these are interlocked to make many other shapes including a stellated icosahedron, an octahedron, or a polyhedron with so many sides that it's pretty much impossible to count.
