After finishing this chapter you are responsible for being able to describe, define,
and compare these concepts:

  1. Describe the nature of a converting an analog image to a digital image. What is a CCD?

  2. What is sampling in space? How does an array of pixels create an image?

  3. What is bit-depth? What is pixel resolution?

  4. Topics to identify and discuss the applications of:
    > Pixels
    > Matrices = images
    > Lookup tables for assigning colors to numbers
    > Bits/pixels= bit depth
    > Pixels/ image = spatial resolution
    > Quantization errors
    > Thresholding operations on an image

  5. How can aliasing occur in a video? How can this be prevented?

  6. Visit the Computer imaging websites to see many of these concepts illustrated and explained.
